We believe that our God is infinitely worthy of all praise. Each Sunday we gather together as a
congregation for two worship services to worship the God in whom “we live, and move, and
have our being” (Acts 17:28).
God is a holy God in whose presence we must keep silence and bow down (Habakkuk 2:20),
therefore, the entirety of our worship is a reverent event.
We believe that God has told us clearly in His Word how His people ought to worship Him.
Therefore, we have the following as the essential elements in our worship:
● Preaching of the Word (commanded by Jesus Christ in Mark 16:15)
○ Preaching is the chief means of grace which God uses to work faith in the hearts
of His people. A sound, doctrinal reading and exposition of God’s Word is the
center of our service. Our pastor carefully prepares sermons with the purpose of
edifying God’s people, calling sinners to repentance, and causing our King and
Savior Jesus Christ to shine forth. A typical sermon lasts around 45 minutes.
● Sacraments (commissioned by Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19 and I Corinthians
11:24-25)
○ God’s Word teaches that there are two sacraments: Baptism and the Lord’s
Supper. Sacraments are given to us by our gracious Father as visible signs and
seals of the invisible things He has promised us in His Word. The Lord’s Supper
is observed four times per year, carefully overseen by our elders. In baptism, we
rejoice in God’s covenant made with us and our children, and baptize all our
infants as well as new believers.
● Singing (commanded by God in Psalm 100:1-2)
○ In God’s divine wisdom, He has given us the Psalms as His own songbook for us
to use in our worship. Our Psalter includes versifications of all 150 Psalms, which
we joyfully sing in praise to God with the accompaniment of a piano. We sing six
times each service.
● Prayer (commanded by God in I Thessalonians 5:17 and Matthew 6:5-13)
○ Our God is a God of fellowship. He not only speaks to us, but graciously allows
us to speak to Him in prayer. We have four regular prayers as part of our worship
service in which we ask for His blessing on our worship, praise Him, and bring
before Him our many needs.
● Giving of Offerings (commanded by God in Matthew 6:1-4 and Deuteronomy 15:11)
○ We have a special time of our worship service dedicated to the giving of
offerings. We believe that God is the owner of all things, and that everything we
have is from Him. We are called to be stewards of all God’s good gifts, to use
them in the service of His kingdom, and to help the needy. The collection and
distribution of the offerings are carefully overseen by the deacons.
